Administrative history
- The Impressionist painters' movement officially began with the exhibition in Paris at the studio of photographer Félix Nadar on April 15, 1874.In 1863, when the Admission Jury of the Parisian Academy refused to exhibit a considerable number of paintings, Emperor Napoleon III arranged a "parallel" exhibition to the official one, which was named Salon des Refusée, and included artists such as Édouard Manet with his Luncheon on the Grass (which was the main cause of the scandal), Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, James Whistler, and others. During this exhibition, the Impressionist painters were harshly mocked and criticized. Subsequently, after being rejected again, they exhibited in the studio of photographer Nadar in 1874, the year in which the movement's birth is placed.
