Description

The bridge was built by Agrippa and was part of a Roman aqueduct about 50 km long that brought water to the city of Nimes.

Technical features

Roman brick was made from clay, decanted and purified in water and defatted with the addition of sand, following a process similar to that used for ceramics, particularly for common use items such as transport amphorae. The clay was then worked using wooden molds, which gave it the desired shape. The bricks were dried protected from sunlight and fired in kilns, whose temperature could reach 1000º.
